We saw this restaurant on 'DDD' and had to try it. Well, the trip to Portland was worth it. Went for breakfast - it lived up to the hype. I had the corned beef hash, my wife had the creamed chipped beef on toast. (It was killer!) They make their own corned beef - on premise - fry it in a small seasoned pan - it is great - comes out with a nice crust - a little bonus with a corned beef breakfast. The chipped beef - served over sourdough bread was, how shall we say - exceptional. It's gotta be made with whole cream. Rich. But, oh so good. If you are in NW Portland - give it a try. Two nice hotels within 3 blocks - and, as we discovered - NW 23rd Ave. (only a few blocks away) is full of boutique shopping and restaurant choices (re: Indian, French, Mexican, comfort food). We had dinner the night before our breakfast destination at Besaw's - it's been in business for 110 years. We will be back - there is way too much yet to be discovered in this neighborhood.
Ordered chip beef, looked nothing like what we saw on the show. Lots of toast very little beef. Service was good. But for the price of $13 I would go somewhere else.
