The Golden State is a talent show for the best makers of food and drink in California. We love Samir's food. We love Scoops gelato. We love breweries like Craftsman and wineries like Topanga Vineyards. We think products like these deserve a stage of their own. California is an easy place to love. It's where we grew up. It's what we know. And it tastes very good.

This restaurant closed during the pandemic, but they just re-opened a few weeks ago. It's also now called the Golden State @ Cofax. The new address is 440 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036. They are only open for dinner at this point, 5pm-10pm.
Following are 3 d's road map of eating in Southern California we stopped for a late lunch at the golden state, almost drove right by, not much to look at from the outside to want to go in. Never the less we gave a try and the pulled pork sandwich featured on the show was just incredible 4 of us ordered it and we ( who eat bbq up and down the east coast) feel it is defiantly one of our top 5 pulled pork sandwiches. Cheeseburger with fries and curry ketchup was also worth going back for. I highly recommend while in la!
