Stopped in on Friday around 10:30a.m. Once we found a spot to sit we were greeted with a complimentary plate of freshly baked danishes which were delicious and still a bit warm. I ordered the Western omelet with hash browns and rye toast. I was also able to have a taste of the biscuits & gravy, which a full serving of is huge! All of the food was very good and the portions were abundant. The fact that the bread, biscuits, etc are freshly baked on premises really made the difference. Staff was running around like you'd expect at a busy diner, but were still friendly & attentive. I would definitely visit again!

Had an amazing time at Grandpa's! We went on a Saturday afternoon, around 3pm and the place was hoppin'! We were served complimentary cinnamon rolls right out of the oven...amazing! I ordered the lamb shank, and it was Fred Flintsone sized...it lasted for 2 meals. The meat was so tender that it fell right off the bone. The mashed potatoes were the real deal and the gravy was great! The homemade rolls were great for sopping up some gravy. My husband got the sweedish meatballs and egg noodles and said they were the best meatballs he had ever had. The waitress was super friendly and happy to tell us stories of when Guy was there as well as a former regular, Davy Jones (RIP). It was a great meal and a great time! So glad we went!

Went specifically because of DDD. Disappointing unfortunately, waitress didnt have time for us. Burgers were good, bread that the BLT was on was very stale. Clerk at bakery counter begged my husband to try a creme horn and it did look amazing...but thats as much as I can say. No flavor, I think they forgot the sweetner in the filling.

I live in south Florida. Went to Grandpa's last weekend. Family had the pancakes. They said they were good. I ordered sausage and pepper sub sandwich. It was good size but was mostly bread and sauce. Not much sausage. The service was terrible. The waiter never brought my drink, never refilled the coffee, never brought cream we asked for. Basically he never came back to the table after taking our order. There's no reason for us to drive out of our way to go back.

My husband and I were extremely disappointed in this place. The waitress was friendly but not familiar with the food selection. I had the fried shrimp - no flavor and overcooked. My husband had tilapia and he also said it had no flavor. Side of corn was from a can. The food was way too expensive for the quality and quantity. We did not even bother with dessert since we had already spent so much for poor quality food. The pecan rolls brought when we were seated was the only positive.

Went to check it out OMG it has good ole fashion food (homemade) & they serve big pecan rolls in a basket before your meal comes. best suggestion... go very hungry. The staff was nice & I talked to locals that have eaten there for years. Very good prices. it's not fancy, but it's good. It reminded me of when I was little and when retsaurants didn't have to look so fancy & overated.

My son and I went yesterday. Very good, but one suggestion. Serve real maple syrup with the pancakes, not that artificial junk. Other than that, great service and great food. Thank you.

As out-of-town alliens we went to this restaurant as we saw that DDD show on Sat-TV in Holland... We had fun, a great dinner, very positive service and a fantastic evening. The portions are way too big but still we wanted to have some carrot cake... really good! So we had our doggy back to take that bread and cake with us for the day after. As mentioned below, if you do not know the place, you will not find it or not want to go there as it is not easy to see it a as good place to eat!

Visited this restaurant on Saturday night May 21, 2011 with our group going on a cruise. If it wasn't for the show, we would have given this place a second look, but so glad we did. The food was fabulous, the service excellent, portions unbelievable. I will definately make a trip back each and every time I get to Florida.

Right next to the Fort Lauderdale airport- so a great pick for travelers! The pastries they give you at your table when you sit down are delicious, and so are the pancakes.

We were in town from Minnesota for a cruise departure, and visited Grampa's because of the appearance on the show. It was everything we hoped for, and so much more. The place had a real relaxed diner feel: sit where you want, waittresses joking and chatting with customers. Our waittress gave great recommendations, and warned us that portion size would NOT be an issue. Shortly after ordering, the manager Tommy came over to visit, we chatted about being from out of town and he told some great stories, answered all of our questions about the filming of the show and meeting Guy, and just seemed to genuinely enjoy having us. It was so casual and comfortable, it felt like he had invited us into his home. I had spagetti, and my girlfriend had a Philly Cheesesteak. Neither of us came even close to finishing, and then Tommy and the waittress insisted we try dessert. *Warning: EPIC proportions of dessert. A slice of cake so big that after eating part of it, we still had to cut it in half to fit in a to go box. Overall, a great experience, and even though we live 1900 miles away, we'll definately be back someday!!!

Wasn't impressed. Went for dinner about an hour before close. They really didn't seem to want me there. Ordered the Granpa's homemade lazagna. Was told by a couple of waiters that it was great. Found it huge, but mostly just pasta. Good flavor, but not enough stuffing. They served the wrong dressing with the salad and didn't come back until the dinner was served. Beer was cold! Probably because nobody ever orders beer here! Looked like they hadn't remodled since it opened in 1958. Don't understand how this was rated so highly. Not horible, but poor service and okay food.

Great Lamb Shank, Spagetti and Meat Balls, and, believe it or not, Lamb Chops. Nice pastries for take home too.
