Great food. Service is good down home country family run. Food was excellent. mrkmpayne's remark about service was probably because the whole restaurant has about 30 seats and 2 waitresses covering everything. The place is a teeny tiny place, probably the size of an average living room. There are some many people that there is normally a short line outside and the waitresses hurry to move tables. It is a quick in and out sort of place. You shouldn't go expecting to sit around and drink coffee and talk for 30 minutes after you finish your meal, there are people standing outside waiting for your table. I don't know why they thought the portions were small, they are definitely bigger than anything you would get at Applebee's, Olive Garden, etc. If you are in the area the Farmer's Shed is definitely a good place to eat!!!

We visited the Farmer’s Shed on Friday, July 20, 2012, on our way through Columbia. The farmers market had a wonderful selection of fresh vegetables and cute yard decorations. The restaurant is small, but has additional outdoor seating. When Guy visited the show, they cooked shrimp and grits, collard greens and cornbread. I read on the website that they served shrimp and grits on Friday’s. I ordered the shrimp and grits with collards, carrots and cornbread. My husband ordered stuffed chicken with rice, butterbeans, cornbread dressing and a biscuit. After you order, your food is on your table in less than 5 minutes. That is great, except it is all precooked. Nothing is made to order. The portions were small. The shrimp tasted like tiny baby canned shrimp. The vegetables were seasoned well and had a good flavor. The chicken taste like it had been cooked for a while and then re-heated. The biscuits and cornbread are packaged in plastic baggies and brought to your table in the bags. They were cold, dry and hard. But the worst part of the whole dinner was our waitress. She was the most rude, inattentive waitress we have EVER had. I could list a dozen reasons why she was so unpleasant, but I will refrain and say that we will never go back.

Ate there tonight. I had the Jefferson chicken, tomato and cheddar casserole, and the greens. Everything was great, especially the greens and the chicken! My hubby had the shrimp and grits and it was out of this world! Super tiny place... 6 or 7 tables, but it was so worth it. Wait staff was super nice and the food came out super quickly. You have to go!

Ate there last week. Incredible! I agree with everyone, love the atmosphere...reminded me restaurant in Fried Green Tomatoes, but smaller. I had the country fried steak, mac n cheese, and hashbrown casserole. All AWESOME. The breading on the steak reminded me of KFC's recipe. Cornbread, excellent, Sweet tea, awesome as well. Excellent good home cooking!

If you love vegetables, you will love this place. The actual restaurant is very small (in terms of seats) but has a wonderful, quaint atmosphere. Everything we ate was exceptionally good and would highly recommend it.

Great food. Veggies were fresh of course. Best Greens I ever had, and that's saying a lot. Tomato Cheddar casserole was amazing. Took home some tomatoes and peaches from the produce store. The Shrimp and Grits were very good, but I've had better (Hanser House Restaraunt in Litchfield, SC). Hope I can get back on a Wednesday for some fried chicken. I would eat my weight in those greens though!

The Farmers Shed is a delightful place to visit! The atmosphere here is so relaxing and takes you back to a time when everything moved at a much slower pace. Love the shed, and the restaurant. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I was one of their first customers, but have since moved to Greenville, SC. When I am in the Lexington area, I go out of my way to eat lunch at The Farmers Shed. The vegetables are fresh and deliciously prepared. Their lemon herb chicken is one of my favorites, very, very tasty!

Went there for lunch today and all the vegetables were fresh. I like that fact that after you eat you can buy fresh vegetables or casseroles to go. I purchased the sweet potato casserole, turkey tetrazini and some pickled snappy beans to go. Can't wait to enjoy them this weekend.
