I just saw the Blackthorn episode. The crab cake is an insult to crab meat, might as well be mashed potatoes. Using the term "Maryland" to describe these patties is an insult to the Old Line State.

Our last stop before hitting Canada and Niagara Falls. This place was cool!!! Great atmosphere, but quiet since we were there on a Sunday afternoon. Service was great, friendly and helpful. The DDD platter is delicious. Youngest daughter had the pulled pork and said it was the best she had ever had. Would go there again many times over if I lived in close by, but will have to settle for the next summer vacation that may take us through Buffalo again.

We visited The Blackhorn June 11, 2012 and had the Guy sampler which was on the menu. It consisted of a cup of cheddar potato soup, roast beef sandwich, tater tots and a crabcake all prepared in their own special way. Everything was outstanding in taste and plating. I would recommend it to anybody that likes fine food. We plan to go back the next time were in the Buffalo area. I give it a five sstar rating.

The food was okay, not nearly as good as they make it seem or other DDD places I have visited. It does have the neighborhood bar feel when you first walk in. It is worth trying, but probably only once.

The "Maryland" Crabcakes are no where close to what a MD crabcake is. No Maryland crabcake uses that much filler nor has vegetables. In fact they would never use anything but lump or Jumbo lump crab meat. IF you are going to use the name please step up your game

Been there a few times -- Solid fish fry and Triple D Platter is good but could've used a few more of those tots -- Great place to watch a Notre Dame game, drink a Harp and down their beef on weck with a load of tater tots -- I'll be back

We ate dinner hear on a Friday night and we were definately not disappointed! My husband ate the TRIPLE D platter (it came with crab cakes, cheddar-beer soup, beef on a wreck, and tater tots). I ordered the Philly Chicken Sandwich. We shared a stuffed hot pepper. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The stuffed pepper was hot, so we were glad that we shared one! Yummy!

We are triple D regulars and always try to stop at one while on a trip. This place had a fun atmosphere, good service and decent food. a bit under seasoned. We had a great time there!!! What I liked best is they had a triple D platter which featured the items from the show. beef on wheck good beer soup not great. Good appetizers.

Had the beer soupwhich was good. We had the prime rib which was very well seasoned and very tender. My wife had the pork chop special which was very tasty and was the most tender and juicy pork chop ever.

We all enjoyed the stuffed tomato appetizer, but it fell apart and it was kind of hard to get a bite with all the flavors on the fork. That was the best thing we had. We all had the beer cheddar soup and agreed it was pretty thin. I thought it was not cheesy enough and very few potatoes. I had the Pub sandwich that was good, but not really a standout. I enjoyed the jalapeno cheese tater tots, but thought they needed a little something. With all the grease, cheese and meat on the plate, could have used a little acid, or fresh something, maybe cole slaw. Atmosphere was nice, but the ladies room is rather tattered. Nice to have off street parking.

After taste-testing at another Triple D-tested restaurant, I was really anticipating this one. The feta-stuffed tomato appetizers were way-yummy, but all the rest was lackluster. Beer cheese soup was thin with few potatoes, meat on Pub Sandwich (a feature) was dry & tasteless. Quite a disappointment. Wish I had visited it on Friday night for the fish fry, as its popularity must indicate its tastiness.

Drove to Blackthorn's from Rochester, NY to sample the soup, crab cakes and reuben for myself...after watching the compelling TV program twice. The food looked different from the program--the eye appeal and portions were not as attractive and generous as showcased on the program. Perhaps the program was pre-recession? I didn't experience the crunch of the crab cakes, like Guy Fieri did. The soup was delicious with beer and cheesy flavors, yet didn't seem as chunky with potatoes like the program. The meat on the reuben was dried out and not terribly memorable. Our waitress Lynn was attentive and conversational--meeting her made the trip out and back worth it.
