A1 Diner in Gardiner, ME, is a small-town gem that was recently featured on the popular Food Network show, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" hosted by Guy Fieri. Located on the banks of the Kennebec River, the A1 Diner has been a local favorite for decades, serving up classic American comfort food with a home-cooked feel. The A1 Diner's menu features a wide range of dishes, from hearty breakfast plates to classic burgers and sandwiches. Standout items include the homemade corned beef hash, the thick and juicy bacon cheeseburger, and the creamy lobster roll. But the real star of the show is the diner's famous blueberry pancakes, made with locally-sourced blueberries and served with real Maine maple syrup. In addition to the delicious food, the A1 Diner also offers a unique atmosphere that combines old-school charm with modern touches. The diner itself is a vintage 1950s-style railcar, complete with chrome accents and vintage signage. Inside, you'll find cozy booths, a long counter with stools, and plenty of nostalgic details like old-fashioned pie cases and black-and-white photos of Gardiner's past. Despite its fame from the Food Network show, the A1 Diner remains a true neighborhood spot, with a friendly and welcoming staff who know many of their regular customers by name. The diner is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is always bustling with locals and visitors alike. Overall, the A1 Diner in Gardiner, ME, is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves good food and a dose of nostalgia. Whether you're a fan of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" or just looking for a tasty meal in a unique setting, the A1 Diner is sure to hit the spot.

Sept. 2013 If you want regular diner food, go elsewhere. This menu is great, and the food is good. Not a typical diner. Really neat stuff on the menu.

Drove two hours in the opposite direction, had lunch, it was terrific. The meatloaf sandwich was outstanding, the speciality burger my boss had was great. We are seasoned ddd chasers and this one was one of the best ones. Staff had personality while helping all the guests, worth the trip

I ate lunch here and I agree with Sue.  The lunch was medicre at best and the service sucked!  The only good thing about this place was the uniqueness of the diner itself hanging over the ledge.  Don't go out of your way to eat here.

Don't eat breakfast here.  The dinner menu sounds good, but the breakfast was pretty much a disaster.  I couldn't taste the overcooked omelet for all the garlic, the home fries were cold and old.  There was no corn beef hash.
