My husband and I went to eat at Big Mama's restaurant today. We were disappointed with the food. The "restaurant" is in or next to a school and the area seems kind of shady. I ordered the oven-fried chicken and my husband ordered the Afro burger. We also ordered a beans and cornbread appetizer. They give you a lot of beans, but the piece of cornbread was smaller than my hand. It wasn't a lot for $4.99. The chicken was lukewarm at best and it was extremely salty. The chicken also seemed dry and almost like it had been sitting out for a while. I had the macaroni and cheese as a side and it was okay, but nothing to brag about. My husband said the bun the Afro burger came with was stale and almost hard and the burger itself was so spicy he couldn't feel his tongue. He ordered french fries with his burger, and said they were okay. We ordered lemonade, which was served in mason jars and were charged $2.79 for each lemonade, which seemed sort of steep for drinks. The service was very slow, as there was only one server. She was very nice and helpful, but not fast at all. I won't be going back, and it's disappointing because I had heard such good things about it.

Met Big Mama today, what a gal. Tried the pig ear sandwich, tasty. Wife had the chicken, outrageous. Service and staff were great. I have never like sweet-potato anything, but that pudding was tops. Glad we went.
Had high hopes for Big Mamas just from seeing it on DDD. But when got to Omaha and talking to our server at Dixie Quicks and the bartender and the hotel bar saying how amazing it was made those high hopes even higher. Well Big Mamas delivered on the hype. I loved it so much am ranking it somewhere in my top 5 favorite stops (I can never put exact order on that top 5). I had the pan fried chicken with mac and cheese and greens. Every thing was so amazing. The chicken is probably the best chicken I've ever ate. That marinade really shines through. Service was excellent, and loved the fact it was an old school cafeteria. One of the other comments stated about the elevator and being in the right place. I think we thought the same thing. And am glad we pushed the button too.

OMG!! To die for! I only got to enjoy Big Mama's 3 times, when I was visiting my daughter. Everything is fabulous. I loved the sweet potato pudding and sweet potato ice cream. Everything we had here was scrumptious. Live the vinyl leopard print tablecloths! I won't be able to go back and try the Sunday breakfast, my daughter moved back to So Cal Highly recommended!

Good ribs good greens sweet potato pudding very good. Overall a good lunch in the heartland. Getting on the elevator I was thinking, "Am I in the right place?" Glad I pushed the up button.
