Had a great time on my stop to Dixie Quicks. Amazing food, and one of the best servers I've ever run across. I tried the Texas pepper steak, and wow, it was so good. Steak was cooked perfect, the peppers added great flavor, and the gravy was so good I wanted to lick the plate after. I held back on that temptation as Dixie Quicks is one of the nicest stops on my DDD roadtrips. Only one that their website recomends reservations for. My dad had the blackened salmon and I sampled a piece of that also and really liked it. Our sever was great as mentioned, and even sat down (was close to end of the night) with us when he heard we were stopping in because of seeing it on Triple D and talked with us all about the day Guy and crew visited them there. We also talked about other people doing DDD roadtrips, and he even gave us his rankings on the others in Omaha and his stop to Brint's Diner in Wichita.

I have only eaten at Dixie Quick's twice. The first time was at their Omaha location and it was stellar. I tried my friend's steak, and was one of the best I have had in a long time. The second time is one week after they have opened in Council Bluffs. It was absolutely awful. We came in, sat down, and ordered our food as table next to us is being seated. They received their food first, ate their food, paid their bill and left before our food ever came. We grabbed our waiter, telling him this. He apologized, went to the kitchen, came back, telling us our order was messed up and it would be out shortly. Another 15 minutes and the food finally arrives. The roasted potatoes are cold and oily. My friend asked for all of the garnish for his salad with roasted chicken on the side along with the dressing on the side. The salad came garnished without any dressing. Also forgotten was the toast for my friends eggs. Grabbing the waiter again, he is told of the missing toast and salad dressing. He disappears to the kitchen bringing back the toast, placing it on the table and walking away to help other customers. My other friend decided to approach one of the owners, telling him of the missing dressing. He brings the dressing to the table, setting it down while talking to staff, never acknowledging our table. My friend removes all the garnish off the salad, pours the dressing on and begins to eat. He quickly discovers many bones in the pieces of chicken. He takes the salad to the same owner he spoke with earlier, showing him and telling him about the bones and with him being the owner, he thought he would want to know. The owner never apologizes, but shakes his head in disgust as he walks towards the kitchen. At least our waiter took the salad off the bill. Maybe it is the move into a new building with a bigger space and many more customers. I'm sure they have new equipment to operate and I am hoping it is just a learning curve. if not, their fate may be sealed. I decided to try the restaurant even though I had received two other bad reports from co-workers. I will give them a few months before I go back for one more try. If things have not improved by then, I will have to cross them off my list.

MOST EXCELLENTT! I just wandered back to my hotel after eating at Dixie Quicks, and I have to say, "Just amazing!!!"No reservation needed – just wandered in. Though it is on a Tuesday @ around 5:30 PM.
I had the Texas Chili Pepper Steak and Tortilla Chicken Soup. Both were exactly as seen on DDD. The steak was just freaking perfect - with a great, but not overpowering chili bite. The soup was terrific! My biggest complaint is that I ran out of food before I was ready to stop eating....
*** Heads Up - In talking to them this evening, they are apparently going to be moving from their current location (next to the local Omaha 'correctional facility') to a new location 'across the river' sometime in Oct 2011. I didn't get the new address though.***
Hope the change of location doesn't change the food or atmosphere, as happens with many other local dive restaurants.
Well worth the trip though!

Sorry....didn't like it and wouldn't go back. My daughter said the french toast was french bread toasted not french toast. The huevos rancheros was served on tortilla chips. We had a reservation and still were treated as if we were there to wait on them.

Great food. Just love the fact that the food was fresh. Everything had a taste to it. Seemed like a place for couples really but nice.

GREAT food, reasonable prices, the decor is 'ancient', but who cares? It is also connected to an art gallery you can wander in for a bit, very cool.

Pros Amazing food Awesome staff Truly fun time Con Apparently they do not furnish a machete to keep your tablemates from trying to steal bites from your plate Dont worry I just held my knife pointed at my sister so that she would know not to cross over into my territory. Which served as a dual purpose, our waiter understood I was not yet finished with my plate. I had their french toast. Absolutely fabulous french toast. The french toast comes in a serving that your sister nor waiter thinks you will come close to finishing on your own. And I didnt, after a long and fearsome battle I gave up a few bites to my sister in exchange for some potatoes.

Have been wanting to try this for a long time. Chicken Fried Steak was cold and lousy (reminded me of TV dinner). Had to have been left over. Definately will never return.

Outstanding service, and the food is over the top. I had the PEPPER STEAK, I experienced the meal that sets the standard for meals to come. I'll be back with friends and family. Do make reservations though, seating is limited. We met a family that was from Idaho and their art work on the table cloth left no doubt thatthey had a memorable experience as well. This place is an absolute must visit.

Great prices, BYOB and even better food. Awesome people balance it out. One of my absolute favorites and I've been everywhere including Picasso, Prime, Cap Grille, Charlie Trotter, Nobu.....etc, etc.

Every bit as good as shown on the show. Food was excellent, folks were very nice. Pepper Staek was fabulous! Prices very reasonable for the quality.
