The Amarillo burger is excellent and the buns they get from a local bakery are great. If you order this burger and drink a cold beer with it you should be in heaven. I went here late on a weeknight it was pretty dead. There was a young cook in the back who big timed me. I watched as he left the kitchen watching a football game and burned up some burgers on the grill. He came back into the kitchen and threw out the burnt items. I waited for over half an hour in a empty place for the burger. When it arrived It was one of the best hamburgers I had ever eaten. The mix of cheese, peppers and the bun were magical. The bartender asked me what I thought and I explained what a tool some of his staff were. He very kindly saved the entire service like a pro. If you are in Austin don't miss this burger and ignore the angry chef in the back.

Ate there recently on a trip from Dallas-Fort Worth to San Antonio...too bad the food has changed...although the Chile Verde Cheese Fries are tasty, they are not fresh-cut anymore and the burger bun was like a stale oversized Hawaiian roll. This really is a dive...actually a bar with a couple round tables (it smelled bad too). We had to place our own orders at the kitchen window at the back of the bar, walk back to our bar seats and listen to the bar staff cut Guy F. for being overbearing and obnoxious (who knows, maybe he is). It made our experience uncomfortable. Too bad...we make this trip often and always look for a DDD spot to eat...these guys are inadvertantly undermining their own business.

40 minute wait was more like an hour and 20 minutes, then our order was taken by someone else so we had to wait longer for them to make it again. The burgers were average at best And the music was terribly loud so its safe to say that I definitely won't be going back. About the only good thing was the cheap cocktails. Staff was nice.

4 of us ate there on 8/24/2012. After waiting 1 1/2 hours for our 4 burgers all we wanted to do was leave as quickly as we could. The music was so loud we could not even hear each other talking. The burgers were in fact a very large size, 3/4 lb, however they were very dry and had no flavor. I can say we went there, done that and will not return.

Was there last week. Burgers were ok, weird ordering system and very loud. It was an ok experience.

Don't over think it, just enjoy it for what it is. A bar with great burgers!

Long wait, rude cooks, but those verde fries were amazing. Burger was ok--I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but good "bar food" if you're out and about on 6th St. Cool decor, but people are usually more laid back than the 'tude you get from those working the food. Waitresses are nice enough, I guess.

I was here way back in 09, and I understand things may have changed since then.  I found the place alright.  I managed to show up right as they were doing a shift change, so despite that fact that I just ordered a hot dog, it took 45 minutes.  It was good, although the dog was a little dry.  I liked the atmosphere though, and at least they had a Space Invaders machine to keep me occupied while I waited.

Another reviewer said it best:  Casino used to be good.  I never minded the rude kitchen staff or the 45 minute waits in the good old days.  You ordered your food, tipped reasonably and got the hell out of the way.  Simple.   My problem with the new, somewhat famous Casino -- beyond the rated G bathroom with no graffiti -- is all the stuff that made it great is gone.  Casino had the BEST wings in town. Hands down.  Last 3 times I got wings they were tiny shriveled up facsimiles of the wings of yore.  Handcut fries have all but disappeared.  Even begging and tipping big hasn't scored me a basket of handcut fries in months.   This kitchen was once a cool (sometimes scary) little hole-in-the-wall, local secret with the very best food of its genre.  The burgers are still good but not good enough to earn it accolades.  Thanks to DD&D the food has taken a nosedive. Good thing the beer's cheap and the company is always lively.

Went in November 2010.   Got the Amarillo Burger and it was excellent.  Chili Verde Fries werre interesting---the verde sauce is good and tangy, not sure it matches well with fries.  Everyone was very nice and pleasant--but they will tell you when you order---takes about 25-30 minutes to cook the burger.  Highly recommend it.

My husband and I went to this place earlier in the year. We took our kids with us. We all had a pleasant time. Service was good and the food was great. My husband got a bacon cheese burger and I got some eggplant burger, we also got chillie cheese fries and hot wings. My husband told me that the cooks were real cool with him and he didnt have a problem ordering or picking up our food. we will be back again

Gotta agree with the other posts about the service. The waitress from the bar was nice, but I have to admit I was confused by the ordering process. She told us we could start a tab at the bar and tell the cook that we had an open tab. I placed my order, and he asked my name. I told him we had an open tab at the bar and he somewhat snapped at me and asked me the name on the tab. He also couldn't hear me and was a bit rude. I spelled out my last name and he spelled it wrong. He did seem appreciative when I pointed that out. I ordered the Amarillo Burger (not as spicy as I thought) and my wife ordered a BLT. When they called our names I wasn't expecting the BLT to be on a burger bun. I asked him if it was a BLT and he was sarcastic and informed me that everything comes on a bun. OK.....how was I supposed to know that? The food was good, but there is no excuse in trying to make people feel stupid.

I agree with Gern I was visiting the Austin area because my husband was about to be deployed to kuwait from Ft. Hood so we decided to look up some locations and we came across this one which looked to be good WELL IT WAS NOT I have never came across such rude people in all my life.  The cook in the video who looked pleasent is anything but after reciving my food 45 mins after we ordered it the handed me a greasy basket which sliped out of my hand and on to the floor so the nice cook got so angry he started throwing crap around the kitchen and they told my they would make my husband another burger but it would be another 45 mins but thats not the end of the story they forgot to give me a side of mayo I asked for so I went back to ask for it BIG MISTAKE it turns out they have 3 differnt types of mayo so I decided to ask the differnce between them another BIG MISTAKE  so again the not so nice cook had the nerve to tell me "WHY DON'T YOU GO SIT DOWN TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT AND THEN COME TELL US THE DIFFERCE"  I really don't recomed this resturant the food was not as great as they were making it out to be it was dry and bland and my husband ordered the buffalo burger which he never got and we payed for it looked nothing like what they showed on the show.

Casino used to be good and was worth the 25 minute wait.  Many locals and I stopped going as the cooks are extreme jackasses and the food now takes close to 45 minutes on a slow night.  Some times we would go out of our way to go there or if we worked on 6th it was a no brainer but the food, quality and SERVICE sucks.  My last straw was a week after SXSW and a buddy in from LA wanted to go.  We watched as three cooks yelled, screamed and cussed at a door guy from down the street because he didnt' tell them "to go" order.  Stupid.  75% of Casino's business is 6th St. oriented and it's the person taking the orders responsibility to ask...doubtful that it was the first time someone didn't specify "to go."  All you have to do is take it out of the basket.  It's a shame too, because the chili cheese fries, dogs and burgers were good.  Some of our food was warm and some was cold.  Better food  and service up and down the street.
