Stopped in around 6:30 on a Sunday evening and it wasn't busy. Ordered the two meat platter, brisket and pulled pork. Was very good! Staff was very friendly! Definitely a good place to stop and eat.

I love good BBQ. The Texas brisket was dry and like chewing rubber, not to mention it was not even warm. I covered it in every sauce on the table so I didn't choke. We were passing through town and my wife and I decided to stop here to mark off one of the many DDDs on our bucket list. She got the pulled pork. It was also not warm enough to enjoy. I tied a bite...it was ok, but I would have probably enjoyed it more after soaking it in their Carolina BBQ sauce. If you know good BBQ this place is sub par at best. For Wilson's sake I hope his ribs are as outstanding as the framed awards say they are. DDD should save fans the trouble and remove this place from their site.

While my family and I were visiting New York we thought it would be a good idea to drive to this establishment and check off on our 20th DDD location. I understand that everyone has bad days but after reading the reviews on here I can report that things have not improved. The lady who took our order was RUDE! She acted liked we were imposing on her day simply by walking in. The brisket was smoked to perfection and had a great smoke ring but it was terribly dry. One of our items (the Brunswick stew) was not available today but we didn't learn of that until they brought the rest of our meal out and we were left to choose from 3 other items to replace the stew with. We chose the burnt ends and were really let down to see that their version of burnt ends is red beans and rice with what I'm sure is pre-made "Lloyd's BBQ" (available in a container at most grocery stores). Overall we have found some really great places from DDD but this is one that really had no redeeming quality. Food was mediocre at best, overpriced, and customer service was really a let down. Save yourself the time and money and go elsewhere.

if you know bbq and expect greatness, then save yourself the trip. i live down the street and have first hand knowledge of wilson's. the staff is lazy and uninterested. i recommend hiring just two people who want to be there rather than five that don't. the food is expensive and often served lukewarm, the sides are miniscule, and the meat portions small. generosity in any fashion you will not find here. i love guy but he got this one wrong.

My family just had dinner there. It was absolutely delicious! The brisket and pulled pork were moist and flavorful, the sides were great. We will definitely be back for more.

Yumm! Definitely worth the trip. Pulled pork sandwich is awesome and I would love to go back to try the rest of the menu

By far the biggest disappointment of any of the Triple D palces I have been too. drove 2 hours out of my way to get there while travelling out east. When the best thing about a BBQ place is the red beans and rice you have a problem.Slow, uninformed and lazy service(an elderly patron asked the waitress for the salt and the waitress pointed to a wall and said "it's over there". Ordered the three meat, it was lukewarm at best, the sauces (award winning?, were the judges tastebuds on break?) nothing to right home about. Too many of the staff's friends hanging out, interrupting service as the staff on duty spent more time catering to them. I did, after my trip call and talk to Mr.Wilson personally, he was gracious enough to listen and we talked for over half an hour. He did invite me back, but unless he's pitching in for gas...won't happen.

Best ribs and corn bread. A must if you love BBQ.

Not sure what the fuss is about this restaurant.  The flavors are just ok and do not come too hungry because the portions are quite small and expensive. We ordered the 3 meats and one sausage platter.  We should have gone to Uncle Willie's in West Haven. Now that is good bbq.

Tried to go there the last time we were in Fairfield, CT from Florida but we were a party of 6 and there were 3 people waiting for take out orders and there was no where to sit and they wouldn't move! Maybe next time :-D

Ed Wilson is the guru of BBQ. I got the 3 meat platter, pulled pork, brisket, and BB ribs. They were fantastic. I had the rice and the mashed sweet potatoes which were to die for. My wife had the beans which were also great. The ribs were so awesome I was smelling my fingers all the way back to NYC.

I'm a regular here....Ed Wilson does BBQ right....Best BBQ north of the Carolinas, hands down.....Pulled pork is always moist and flavorful and the Carolina vinegar sauce is the best I've had. Dry rubbed ribs (sauce on the side, of course), juicy brisket and all of the homemade sauces are top notch....Highly recommended....

The BBQ is great and the cornbread is to die for.  Once the owner left, it was like pulling teeth to get customer service.  4-5 people working and only the guy that seemed to be the shift manager was moving.  People placed orders and the girls stood there.  Sounds like gollfer1 and I were there on the same day.

While I like the BBQ I was unhappy that nothing was particularly hot.  I asked for them to warm up some sauce for me and they did happily but it took a while and I was almost finished by the time I got it.

Stopped in on my way to NY.  Can't believe that you can this B-B-Q this good in CT.  If you are headed past Faifield for any reason, leave some time to stop in here.  You will not regret it.
