Just finished eating here and it was GREAT! I had the mahi fish tacos and a friend had the fish and chips...My friend described the fish as "melt in your mouth" fish... Great atmosphere in Village Café. Only sort of problem was our waitress wasn't the best but she wasn't bad either. I almost feel like Im just trying to find something wrong with the place. I will be back!!!

Despite no recent comments and mixed comments from last year, we decided to stop for a late lunch on our way to Florida from Canada.Found the Village Cafe with no problems. Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm it was busy and loud - lots of energy. A long beer menu, didn't know what to pick. The waiter was very helpful and made a few suggestions. I ordered one he recommended. Unexpectedly, he stopped by with a sample, just to make sure I was happy with my selection. So much for the comment about poor service. We ordered the onion rings, very good - large, tasty and crisp. There was oil in the bottom of the basket, but they were deep fried, so not unexpected.I ordered the meatloaf - a large moist, tasty portion. The mashed potatoes (real) and meatloaf were covered but not drowned, in a flavourful gravy. The side of corn was huge.My wife ordered the burrito with sides of rice and black beans. After the onion rings, she ate the rice, beans, salsa and guacomole. She just didn't have room for the burrito, which we brought back with us and will eat later.Everything was served hot.Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of parking in the 7/11 parking lot $125 later and a $15 taxi ride, we got our car back.We would definitely go back, but would be more careful with the parking.

This place is really great, it's sad to hear about the bad onion rings, because I go there all the time and have never had anything but crispy perfect onion rings, their coffee milkshake is one of the best I've ever had with ground coffee beans in it. Also, I really recommend the mozzerella balls, amazing. They're a great pig out spot, recommend it everytime. Of course there are better resturants in richmond, joe's, comfort, and strawberry street, just to name a few. Good comfort food though.

My girfriend and I love trying the DDD restaurants wherever we go.  Since the Village Cafe was a little less than 100 miles away we decided to take a drive down there on a Saturday.  First off, parking sucks and we drove around the block 4 times and finally ended up parking 3 blocks away.  No biggie.  The onion rings were what I was looking forward to.  I cannot over emphasize the disappointment when they finally came out to the table.  They were drenched in grease to the point that there was a 1/4 inch of oil in the bottom of the container and they were so soggy there was no crunch at all.  I sent them back. When dinner finally arrived it was cold, not slightly warm, but cold.  We were both so disappointed and would never recommend this place to anyone.  It was so bad I wouldn't even consider a second chance if the meal were free.  I agree with the comment that this is a college kids hangout.

I have lived in the Fan for 20 years and have never been to the Village. I've also never met anyone who has recommended it. I guess I should go.... But Edo Squid is across the street and yet no TV show has visited it...Joe's, MammaZu, 27, there are so many great spots in the fan I am surprised THIS is the one that made the cut. But, like I said, maybe I should go and see what I'm missing.

Don't fall for this one unless you are a college student. The worst service ever. The food was ok at best (it was hot). This is a college diner for college kids not for adults.

Great onion rings!  Stromboli was pretty good.  The gyro, pasta, and breakfast-all-day items looked great too.

Ate here in 7/09; I had meat loaf and it was very good.  Onion rings were some of the best I have had.  Really tasty batter on the onion rings.
